[Editor] writes [18th May 2003] Station 146 Tower AssociationVisit the Station 146 Control Tower website. Seething WWII Control Tower has been restored as a living memorial to the Americans who were based in Seething. Special Open Days on first Sundays in the months May to Oct, have on display 448th Bomb Group memorabilia, photographs and personal stories. It is cared for by the Station 146 Tower Association which has 600 members, many in America. To join and receive 3 newsletters a year costs £5pa. Seething ObservatoryThe Norwich Astronomical Society (NAS) was founded in Norwich, UK, in 1945. It's mission is to promote and advance the science of astronomy. Public events are intended to both educate and entertain our many visitors. The Society currently has over 100 members many of whom meet every Friday evening at the Seething Astronomical Observatory. Although Friday evenings are our club nights, we always make visitors welcome, so if it is clear please feel free to come along and visit us. At first the disused USAAF airbase was leased from local farmers and it took four months to clear the runway of rubble and scrap. The first aircraft leased was a Miles Messenger, costing £4 per hour to fly.
